Tongues Tied

poetry + art

"They padded their way into adulthood;

growing up, they learned to line what they felt."

Lauren Ducrey's first chapbook, is a collection of thinking, often philosophizing, poems. It explores how the conversation between poetry and art has a unique ability to reconcile the analytical mind with a sense of playfulness and intuition. Full of contemplation of the relational, we find a speaker looking to understand the different selves within her, within others, and the world.

Under the art direction of David Cocciante (Supereasy Studio) with artwork by Erwan de Beauchaine, Tongues Tied invites those who don’t instinctively feel at home in the poetry section to take a moment and explore what it would feel like for all of us to belong here.

“The words on these pages sparkle and spark my own heart. Brilliance in all sense of the word!” - 5 star reviewer

Cordes sensibles

poetry + music

In this debut EP, Lauren’s spoken poetry riffs with Hadrien Remy’s guitar about finding freedom in adulthood, befriending the mind, coming back to the body’s intelligence and being so completely curious about another human that you want to get under their skin.

The Second Cactus

poetry + film

What does an AI-animated poetry film look like? Like an award-winning soft-noire short born from the collaboration of filmmaker Dade Allevato and poet Lauren Ducrey.

Every year, the Moving Words Program pairs 10 filmmakers with 10 poets. In 2023, Lauren's poem the “The Second Cactus” was selected and Dade brought it to life using generative AI tools and original sound design. The piece won first place.
